Brading Roman Villa are creating their own piece of history with a new website to promote their award-winning visitors centre. Bradingromanvilla.org.uk quite rightly re-positions the centre as one of the finest Romano-British archaeological sites in the UK.
The Villa has certainly come a long way since a local farmer accidentally unearthed fragments of 2nd Century mosaic some 80 years ago. Further excavation yielded more unique insights into life in Roman Britain, with the precious finds housed in a building that did not do justice to the riches it contained. This all changed in 2004, when a decision was made to create a world-class visitor and exhibition centre that would present the entire collection in a stylish and engaging way, and also provide facilities for educational visits and a unique venue for corporate functions.
To mark this monumental step in the Villa's history a website was needed which not only showcased their stunning collection of mosaics and archaeological finds, but also provided comprehensive information on educational schemes and initiatives, as well as details of the Villa's corporate and entertainment facilities. The new website showcases the centre with a comprehensive photo gallery, and features the latest news and events, updatable by the staff at the Villa within an easy-to-use CMS area.
The new visitor centre has exceeded all expectations, and it is hoped that bradingromanvilla.org.uk will be another milestone in the history of this unique project.
